From Paradise to Pizza Oven

We wrapped up the R&R portion of our trip — in Phuket, Thailand — and are heading to India (first stop: New Delhi). The Phuket break, while restful for us all, has not completely recharged everyone for what awaits us, as there seems to be a fair bit of trepidation about India, based on the pizza oven-like temperatures we are likely to encounter, and the limitations on what we can eat/drink (we’ve been given a firm list of “do’s” and “don’ts” about what to eat/avoid from several people who currently live in, or have visited, India).

For now, here are a few pics from the last day or so… it wouldn’t be a beach vacation without a rejuvenating cup of Joe on the veranda first thing in the morning, or an afternoon sand-castle construction project with Zoe… even if it was interrupted by a fairly brisk, strong storm.

Later in the day we flew to Bangkok (unfortunately, it is just a 17-hour layover between flights, so no sight-seeing):

Tomorrow we head to India, which my weather-app tells me is going to be a bit warmer than humans should endure:

Yikes! We’ve been following the weather in India, and it looks close to unbearable….107, 103…All of you need to be very careful. Drink a lot of (approved and safe) fluids, and don’t push yourselves.

We will be careful, mom… we have been informed that the cars/hotels we are using will all have A/C. I think we just need to stay inside between noon and 3 or so each day. Also, the second half of India is in places with considerably cooler (high 80’s) locations.

My weather app says it will be 103 Degrees at 1:00 in Delhi and 103 at noon on friday. Drink lots and lots of safe bottled water! Its been a great trip so far so you might not get to venture out much in India. 107 on Saturday!
