A Little R&R

Jackie and I “vacation” very differently: she enjoys genuine “down time,” whereas I am more restless… one might diagnose me as having vacation-ADD. When planning the around-the-world “adventure,” I was pretty clear that this was not (for me, at least) a “vacation.” It would be more of a go-go-go experience. Jackie was on board for the adventure part, but also wanted to make sure we built in some “vacation”-time along the way. Hence, Phuket Thailand, a place known for its beaches, resorts and (for those who want it), relaxation.

So, having just completed a 15-day/4 City-plus-demanding day of hiking, we are now enjoying 3 days of R&R at Bangtao Beach near Phuket. The natural scenery is beautiful, the place we are staying is fairly luxurious and, because it is the “rainy season” (and there are fewer people than in high season), the resort upgraded us to a “family royal suite” (basically, a nice two-bedroom unit). The food and amenities are fairly standard “resort” fare … but the massages… oh, the Thai massages, are awesome! and cheap!

So, without further ado, here are photos of our “vacation from our adventure.”
