A quick post from Kyoto

We arrived in Kyoto last evening, found our hotel (Rinn Nijo Castle Guesthouse), almost twice the size of our Tokyo Airbnb Apartment. The trip down from Tokyo — via Shinkansen “bullet train” — was smooth, pleasant and full of great scenery along the way. (Also, it makes one realize how poorly the U.S. does infrastructure and “mass” transportation). After a nice meal, we all crashed and got up well-rested for our trip to Arashiyama — home to the Bamboo Forest and to the Monkey Park (and lots of tourists)!
